How Rich Are 31 Chief Ministers?

As of 2024, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu tops the list of India's richest chief ministers with assets of ₹931 crore, while West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee ranks lowest with assets of just ₹15 lakh, according to an ADR report analyzing the self-sworn affidavits of 31 CMs.

As 2024 came to a close, a study has shown that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, with assets of ₹931 crore, is richest among India's 31 chief ministers.

 

At the other end, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, with assets worth ₹15 lakh, is at the lowest rank in terms of a chief minister's assets as per her 2021 election affidavit. 

 

Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW) analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 31 chief ministers of states and Union Territories. 

 

The ADR report shows that three chief ministers have assets exceeding ₹50 crore, nine chief ministers have assets between ₹11 crore and ₹50 crore. 

 

Seventeen chief ministers have assets between ₹1 crore and ₹10 crore. Two chief ministers, Omar Abdullah and Mamata Banerjee, have assets of less than ₹1 crore.
